Regulars note a friendly and welcoming vibe, enhanced by a small market section where one can purchase Vietnamese staples and even lottery tickets, adding another layer of community connection.
Customers consistently praise the authenticity and generous portions. As Jenny H excitedly shared, the sandwiches “are super delicious” and unique compared to others she’s tried, praising the distinct flavors in the cold cuts and sauces. Regis Kwong confidently names it “hands down the best Vietnamese sandwich in Southern California,” attributing the authentic taste to a genuine nod to Vietnamese street food culture. Ann Nguyen highlights the perfect crunch of the baguette paired with tangy pickled veggies that “give it a nice, tangy kick,” recommending advanced ordering to beat the inevitable crowd.
Popular among locals and newcomers alike, it’s advised to arrive early or call ahead, especially during peak times, as noted by Anish Thakkar, who recommends getting there early due to the long line but praises the solid, quality offerings and convenient cash-only system. The reasonably priced sandwiches, all around $7, and hearty plate meals like Broken Rice with Grilled Pork or Chicken Leg with Egg offer tremendous value without sacrificing taste.
In summary, Bánh Mì Mỹ Tho stands out as a must-visit destination for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Vietnamese flavors served with speed and a warm touch in the San Gabriel Valley. First time visiting this place, we were so amazed by the Banh Mis!!! We have the house special and the beef one... Both are super delicious! They are just different than any other Banh Mis we have tried! The cold cut itself, sauce, the pork and beef are very well flavoured! The only thing that caught us 4 were the hot peppers... We suffered a bit from that... Would definitely ask for less or not to have any at all...! The Banh Mis were so good that we finished 2 in 5 minutes... And craved to buy more immediately! I wouldn't mind to have this every breakfast, that would be such a pleasant way to start a day!
Hands down the best Vietnamese sandwich in Southern California. Before I came to this sandwich shop, I thought I had my best banh mi at Banh Mi Cali in Rosemead. I have to tell you, this place has the best and most authentic Banh Mi sandwiches in the San Gabriel valley. As some of the yelp reviewers indicated that the Banh mi here reminded them of Vietnam. I have to agree. The taste of sandwiches are fantastic. I feel they are in par with the ones made in Saigon during my last year’s trip there. That’s why I was not surprised with the guy standing next to me in line telling me that he had come from Santa Monica to wait in line for the sandwich. For those of you wanting to have a true experience of Vietnam Banh Mi, I highly recommend to get #8. The meat is tender and tasty. The sauce and pickle vegetables enhance the Banh mi flavor. Craving for egg rolls? They have one of the best in town. The price is cheap. Get a dozen for lunch for your kids or yourself. This is a great side appetizer to go with the sandwich. Don’t forget to ask for a small cup of fish sauce to dip the egg rolls in. The owner was nice and kind. She was very efficient getting our order done. She has an amazing memory. She knows exactly what we ordered.
I love their sandwiches. They’re so good and the price is actually very affordable. For seven dollars you get delicious foot-long sandwich. There is like a little bit of sitting area outside, but mostly this is a takeout place. They always have plenty of customers so they will be a bit of line, but their service is very fast. They also some little market items, such as chili oil drinks, and other choices other than their sandwiches. But I definitely recommend trying their #2!
Had a grilled pork banh mi from this OG spot and loved. Most banh mi’s are $7, with $3 for extra meat and $8.25 for grilled beef. My friend got the pork meatball and also loved it! Decent quality, cash only, and they have additional Vietnamese groceries like pate and egg yolk as well as lottery. All in all a solid place with a long line - get there early!
Banh Mi My Tho is a real treat! The banh mi has the perfect crunch, and the pickled veggies give it a nice, tangy kick. Planning to eat later? Just let the staff know, and they’ll keep the pickles and veggies separate so everything stays fresh for you. Their Broken Rice (Com Tam) is also a must-try—great portions at a good price. Since it gets busy, I’d recommend calling in your order to save time. And trust me, you don’t want to miss the Vietnamese Condensed Milk Coffee (Ca phe sua da). It’s the perfect match for the banh mi! Though it’s mainly a takeout place, you’ve got options: enjoy your food at the little tables out front or head to a nearby park for a mini picnic.
Best banh mi we've had in a long time! Several items for only $7 and it's a good size. Only took a few minutes to get it. It's essentially a deli where you pick up and go. There's only tiny table outside for 2 people. We loved our BBQ meatball and grilled pork banh mi. Will have to make the drive back down here again to try more.
I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet. It is one of my favorite banh mi places!! Plenty of parking but the line is always SUPER long!!! I recommend ordering ahead (you still have to stand in the same line which is stupid but at least you don’t have to wait for your food to be made). Prices are reasonable and the sandwiches and spring rolls are soooo good! I usually get #8 the grilled pork sandwich. And the pork spring rolls (SO good, especially with the sauce)!! There is no dine in, the place is super tiny and cramped. It’s all to go!
